After an impressive week 4 slate we head into Week 5 with a not so impressive slate of games. In the betting world the type of games being played is almost irrelevant, and a poor slate of games is more the reason to place a wager!
As far as Units being wagered, it’s up to your bank roll to determine what a unit is to you personally. For the bets I post below I’ll be using 1 unit to refer to a $100 wager being placed. The lines below are based off Draft Kings sportsbook:
Friday Night Action
Cincinnati at BYU 10:15pm Est
This line is indicating that Cincinnati is a 4-point favorite on a neutral site. I just don’t see it that way and believe this is an overreaction to the Cincinnati teams of the past.
They do not have Luke Fickell anymore and are a team that has struggled out of the gate to start the 2023 season.
I like a BYU team that has played well the past 2 weeks on the road beating Arkansas and having a halftime lead at Kansas before blowing the lead.

Saturday
South Alabama at James Madison Noon Est
Both teams put up about 400 total yards of offense a game while surrendering 350 yards a game. James Madison averages 34 points a game and South Alabama is a tick below that at 29 points per game.
With perfect 70-degree weather and no wind at kickoff I like the prospects of James Madison quarterback Jordan McCloud and South Alabama running back La’Damian Webb getting me 50 points.

Oregon at Stanford 6:30pm Est
Oregon is fresh off a beatdown of Colorado and now head on the road to take on a very bad Stanford team who lost to Sacramento State 2 weeks ago.
The spread being as low as it is, is somewhat alarming to me but I do not see a look ahead spot here for Oregon as they have a bye next week and fully expect them to come out and put a beat down on Stanford.
I’ll take them 1st half and full game!
